Aminu Tambuwal Asks IGP To Be Jailed For Contempt

House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Tambuwal asks IGP to be jailed for contempt. In the application filed by his counsel, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), Tambuwal accused the IGP of committing contempt of the order of court for status quo made on November 7.

Tambuwal averred that the IGP undertook not to tamper with the subject of the dispute being his status as Speaker, but has been the only person who does not recognise him as the speaker. He added that even the president still recognises him as the speaker.
The Speaker cited his being denied access into the premises of the National Assembly “to perform his lawful duty as the Speaker of the House of Representatives” on November 20 and the statement by the IGP before the House Committee on Police Affairs on Wednesday that he would not recognise him as speaker, as some of the instances of the IGP’s contempt of court.

Justice Ahmed Muhammed advised Tambuwal’s counsel to file a motion on notice and serve the IGP, who was represented by Ade Okeaya-Inneh (SAN), for his reply. He adjourned the case to December 1 for ruling on two separate applications by Tambuwal’s constituents who are seeking to join the suit.
Bala Konkani and Sambo Bello Moddo, chairmen of Kebbe and Tambuwal local government areas of Sokoto State respectively, are arguing that they are interested parties in the suit having elected the Speaker as a representative to the House.

 Similarly, Abdulsamad Ibrahim Dasuki of Tambuwal East constituency, Suleiman Hamsi of Tambuwal West constituency, and Hon Shuiabu Umar of Kebbi West constituency, all members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, want the court to admit them as parties in the suit.

SC Bastia striker Brandao has been sentenced to one month in prison for head-butting Paris St Germain midfielder Thiago Motta during a match that took place on saturday August 16th, 2014 between the two teams.

The PSG midfielder was left with a broken nose, after which there was a big misunderstanding on the pitch between players of both teams.

The SC Bastia striker was originally banned for six months plus a fine of £16,000 by the french football authority, but the sentence was later regarded as a violent action and the sentence was changed to a month in prison. His lawyer pleaded that he serves his term through community service and not jail.

The gist went round yesterday that some of Femi Kuti’s children not being exactly his. Many blogs and websites (including yours truly) ran the news.

The story apparently originated from a National Encomium interview done  5 years ago and Femi Kuti wasn’t really happy about the news making the rounds again. He was especially pissed with Linda Ikeji for using photos of his REAL children to sell her story.

He didn’t refute the story though. His only grouse is that she used the picture of his real children to sell the story. He has since requested for her to take the picture down.
As at time of going to press, the picture were still online.

Ayo Fayose Blast OBJ For severve Opinion On President Goodluck Jonathan

The Governor of Ekiti state Ayo Fayose is not in good terms with Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.

The former president has accused Goodluck Jonathan of performing below average, and that Goodluck’s era is full of corrupt politicians.

Ayo Fayose who spoke at the Yoruba Progress Summit in Ile Ife, Osun State on Friday, November 28, said that Obasanjo is not in the right position to accuse Jonathan because he himself is a corrupt man.
Fayose accused Obasanjo of distributing large sums of money in order to contest for a third term in office.

“If you give your blood to Obasanjo, he will not support you. He doesn’t want anybody with independent mind. You (Jonathan) did not level Borno and Yobe the way he levelled Odi; for that, he will not like you. We know how he was when he came out of prison and how rich he was when he was leaving office,” 

  Fayose said.

Tonino Lamborghini will reportedly be launching a new luxury smartphone in January, called the 88 Tauri - named after the constellation. For now, pricing information has not been reported, but the smartphone is claimed to be set for an India launch via Luxury Quotient.

The Tonino Lamborghini 88 Tauri is being reported by GQIndia to run Android 4.4.4 KitKat and sport a 5-inch full-HD display with an oleophobic coating and 10-point multi-touch. Unlike most luxury phones, the 88 Tauri seems to be rather well-endowed, and is said to be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC, coupled with 3GB of RAM.

Other reported specifications include a 3400mAh battery rated to deliver 1,000 hours of standby time, a 20-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Strangely enough for a luxury smartphone, the 88 Tauri is claimed to feature dual-SIM dual active support, apart from LTE connectivity.

Opera Mini 8 beta Launched for Android

Opera has launched Opera Mini 8 beta for Android that brings new user interface similar to the Opera Mini browser for Android. This is a lightweight browser that runs on Android 2.3 and higher. It has all the features present in the Opera Mini for Android, including data-saving compression, bookmarks, Speed Dial folders, private tabs and bookmark syncing.

SwiftKey for iPhone updated with Series of improvements

Swiftkey has updated iPhone app with several improvements and enhancements. The third party keyboard that landed on iOS devices in September is being updated to version 1.0.4.



The app gets an improved punctuation slider on iPhone that has been optimized for all screen sizes and orientations. While the punctuation slider on iPad has been added for faster access to common punctuation. SwiftKey now offers predictions now available for words starting with accented characters.

The keyboard now gets better localization and currency now matches the device’s set region. SwifKey said that the latest update works better with iOS 8. Earlier this month, the keyboard added support for seen new languages. Last week, SwiftKey for Android updated with support for more Indian languages.
